Designed by the help of science fiction writer Ray Bradbury, Space Ship Earth is a complete sphere supported by three pairs of legs. Imagineers had to get creative to make sure the luminaires wouldn’t impact the appearance or structure of Spaceship Earth. In the World Celebration work is underway for a new quick-service restaurant, landscaping and Dreamers Point, which will have lush gardens, a wishing tree, an interactive new fountain and a new statue celebrating the legacy of the original dreamer, Walt Disney. The Spaceship Earth luminaires are nestled between the icon’s panels and illuminate in different patterns during shows each night, including a special show celebrating the 40th anniversary of EPCOT. The massive 180-foot geosphere building that houses this attraction is spectacular.
